BLOG: Experience needed at Westfields

After a inconsistent season it's safe to say that Westfields FC will be a little disappointed with how the season panned out writes NLD blogger Rhys Williams

Having missed out on promotion two seasons running they were hoping the season just gone would be the one for them to shine and gain promotion out of the Midland Football League.

But the Club did manage to retain the County Cup for the fifth successive season, which is a really impressive run.

Personally I would put the League form down to the amount of changes in personnel that occurred during the course of the season. All that can happen now is that the team come back bigger and stronger next season.

To do this Manager Sean Edwards will need to add more experienced faces to what is a youthful Westfields side.

It's not just the player changes, Physio Jonny Evans and Kitman Roger Lloyd have both already left to join up with Hereford FC. This leaves Sean looking to bolster his playing staff as well as bringing in new players.

I can see it being another tough season for Westfields, both on and off the field. The formation of Hereford FC will see crowds and takings drop at allpay.park and may even effect the team, but in reality noone can be dead certain of the effects it will have.

However one major positive going into next season is that long term sponsors Allpay Ltd have agreed a New lucrative Three-Year sponsorship deal with the Club. Hopefully this fantastic support from the sponsors can rub off on the team and create League success on the pitch.
