Barrow boss Moore asks for patience from fans

Barrow AFC manager Micky Moore accepts he isn't every supporter's cup of tea but vowed to change minds following a start he didn't want in his first game as the club's full-time manager.

After a month in caretaker charge, fortunes failed to improve after being officially confirmed as Paul Cox's replacement.

Moore regretted a "suicidal" three-minute period at the start of the second half which was ultimately their undoing.

Cox's former number two's appointment hasn't gone down well with a section of the Holker Street fan-base but he addressed the discontent after a group of fans were involved in an ugly stand-off with managing director Andrew Casson, where the validity of Moore's appointment was questioned.

He said: "There will be some supporters who would have wanted a more experienced manager, someone who has been there, done it before but it doesn't matter – every person in life needs an opportunity, in every walk of life, not just football.

"The club has given me this opportunity, I believe in my ability and I have been around this level for the past seven or eight seasons.

"All I will say to the supporters is give me the opportunity to show you what I can do. I have had seven games and I have six or seven first team players out."
