Batch Hoping Schedule Will Be Kinder

David Batch, manager of Ryman League Division One North club AFC Sudbury, hopes this season's fixture list will be kinder on his players, when the inevitable inclement weather hits.

The manager of Wroxham last season, Batch's (pictured) squad faced a fixture pile-up towards the end of the campaign, but he believes the introduction of more midweek dates this season will be welcomed by all clubs.

"It became a problem last year when the adverse weather hit," said the manager of the Ryman League Division One North team.

"For some reason last season, we only had two midweek games scheduled for the entire campaign and we ended up playing every Tuesday for the last 10 weeks of the season, plus some Thursdays.

"There seems to be a lot more Tuesday games scheduled by the league this season which makes complete sense. Hopefully we won't hit the same sort of difficulties again."

Batch's side begin with an away trip to Thurrock, one of six league games in the opening month.

"That's good as players are able to get into a rhythm playing two games a week," said Batch.
