Bucks Name New Chairman

Conference North outfit AFC Telford United have named Ian Dosser as the club's new chairman.

Dosser successfully came through a thorough recruitment process overseen by Independent Chair Jenny Wynn and Independent Recruitment Consultant Bill Smart from PMA services. The process included Dosser and a number of external candidates being interviewed by stakeholder panel made up of supporters, sponsors and partners, as a well as a final interview with representatives from AFC Telford United Supporters Trust and the Board of AFC Telford United.

Dosser joined the Board of the club in 2004 and has served as Finance Director overseeing the club running at a profit in seven out of eight years. He was also instrumental in helping the club secure a new longer lease and the development of the five a side centre at the New Bucks Head.

In my years at the club, I have been inspired by the passion, commitment and determination of everyone at the football club and I look forward to leading the club to ensure that nine years of almost unbroken success is continued. I am ambitious to promote and develop the club and see it fulfil its ambitions and potential on and off the field. Progress needs to be built over time and be sustainable, but it can and will be done."

Chair of AFC Telford United Supporters Trust, David Embery, said: "Ian is an fantastic appointment as Chairman of AFC Telford United. He richly deserves the total respect of all who know him and his outstanding personal qualities will enable him to successfully reach out and interact with not only the entire business community but also that of the individual supporter. Business and the individual are areas of incredible significance both in terms of where the club has come from in the past and where it will go in the future. The future is of course the most important and it is there where Ian's leadership qualities and guidance will prove invaluable in furthering the success story that is AFC Telford United. On behalf of AFC Telford United Supporters Limited, I would like to extend Ian our most sincere best wishes for the success he and everyone connected with AFC Telford United so richly deserve. I call upon everyone to now get behind Ian, his fellow directors and Trust Board members as AFC Telford continues on the path to success and glory so desired by us all."

Dosser will replace Lee Carter as chairman - however, Carter will remain at the club as Managing Director and expressed his delight at the appointment: "Ian is a fantastic appointment. He is a very, very high quality operator who has demonstrated great commitment and passion for the club. Since 2004 he has fought hard to ensure that the club has got the best deal it can and he has played a huge role in ensuring that we have evolved year on year. This is the beginning of a new chapter, a chapter that will be lead by someone with the club and all its great qualities very close to his heart."
