Fitzgerald Commits to Hyde

Young defender Andrew Fitzgerald has signed a new contract to stay at Conference North club Hyde for another season.

The 19-year-old reserve team captain, who made his first team debut in the final game of last season against Lincoln City, is seen as key to the club's future and signed his new contract immediately after Saturday's game at Rhyl.

Fitzgerald (pictured) said: "I am over the moon about signing my contract for a second year and I'm really happy to be staying at the club and just can't wait for the season to start now."

Fitzgerald admits that pre-season has been an eye opener for him: "Pre-season is going well but I am feeling the effects as I didn't have a proper pre-season last season having just come out of college but I feel the fittest I have ever been."

And the youngster sees a bright future for himself and the club: "At this moment in time Hyde is the only place I want to be and I just want to focus on my game and keep improving and keep setting myself high standards."
