Head Takes Up Ilford Coaching Role

Justin Gardner, manager of Ryman League Division One North club Aveley, has announced the departure of long-term physio Kevin Head.

Head has taken up the opportunity to become first team coach at Essex Senior League side Ilford, to add to his previous coaching experience, which includes a spell as manager of Aveley's FA Cup opponents, Waltham Forest.

In an open letter to the Aveley fans, Head said: "I am very sad to be leaving the Aveley family once more. I have been the club physio for many years now and have enjoyed the ups and downs of being involved with Aveley.

"The management wish to improve the club, which I understand and agree with fully, and by bringing in a physio of Esther Ibrahim's standard is a great move for the club, players and team.

"But after my time with Waltham Forest as manager I have always wanted to have another go at coaching and have been given the chance with Essex Senior League side, Ilford, as first team coach. It will be a chance to gain more experience which will help me on my return to the Aveley family.

"I wish to thank Graham (Jennings, Aveley Chairman) and Craig (Johnson, Aveley Secretary) for all their support over the years and to all the players, past and present, and last of all to the fans.

"'We don't need Mourinho, cause we have our physio' will always be special to me. Thank you.

"The Aveley family is now and always will be my club and I will return. Good luck to all."
