Hilder To Share His Knowledge

Dan Hilder might only have 12 months of Calor League Division One South & West experience under his belt, but he knows he will be expected to help out Swindon Supermarine's younger squad members this term.

The 24-year-old winger was one of a clutch of Highworth players to follow boss Dave Webb to South Marston last summer and played his part in a campaign in which Marine finished fourth in Division One South & West before losing to Merthyr in the play-off semi-finals.

Despite being a relative newcomer to the Southern League, Hilder (pictured) feels his knowledge of that level can help the younger players around him.

"It's happened really quick, last year I was one of the new ones coming up from the Hellenic, but this year I've got more experience of the league," he said.

"The new lads have come in and shown they can do it fitness-wise, the likes of Josh Morse, Gio (Wrona, trialist) and Nathan (Blackford, trialist) and a few of the other lads have been doing alright. Hopefully they can come in and prove their worth and fill the gaps that we've lost.

"I still think I'm one of them, I still think I'm 19 or 20.

"I'm 24 now and Dave (Webb) especially will expect me to help the younger guys fit into the team and use my experience of the Southern League, which isn't the greatest, but I am older than them so hopefully I can help them along."
