Hinckley appoint Belford as new manager

Dale Belford has been appointed manager of Midland League One side Hinckley AFC and the Tamworth FC legend admitted: 'It's good to be back'.

Belford, who won the FA Vase with Tamworth in 1989, replaces Carl Abbott and has appointed Richard Lavery as his assistant.

Belford, who managed both Tamworth and Atherstone, says he can't wait for the challenge ahead.

He is excited by some fascinating reunions - he comes up against his son Courtney, manager of Nuneaton Griff, on December 9.

And he is also set to face former club Atherstone.

I'm delighted to be back in football," said Belford.

"The Hinckley name is still a big one in local football and after speaking to the board and the other people concerned it was an easy decision.

"It's a big challenge. Everybody is of the mindset that they'd like to progress and there's an opportunity there to build.

"I think that is one of the big things that attracted me. I feel as if there is something to build here, the fan base and potential is there."
