Hippolyte Expects to Strengthen Further

Johnson Hippolyte, manager of Conference South club Maidenhead United, expects to sign at least one more player before the start of the season.

The Magpies boss said he hoped to wrap up the signing of an experienced centre-back, who has been on trial with the York Road club, this week.

He added that the players had returned for pre-season in great shape and were looking sharp ahead of warm up games against Hendon on Tuesday and Luton Town at York Road on Saturday, July 20.

So far the club has moved to sign Danny Green from Thurrock, Michael Malcolm from Whitehawk FC, Adrian Clifton from East Thurrock, and Elvijs Putnins from Woking.

Hippolyte (pictured) said the signings had given the squad a lift before the club's opening Conference South fixture at newly promoted Whitehawk on Saturday, August 17.

"We're looking at a centre half, who has played Conference football, and at this level as well," said Hippolyte.

"He's 27, has done really well, is a big strong centre half and will definitely add something to the squad. I've also been impressed with one or two of the other triallists, but those deals will depend on the numbers and figures."

He added: "The new players look really good additions.

"From the reaction of our experienced players we know the new signings are very very good.

"The new boys have given everyone a lift and I'm sure they will bring something to the table."
