Keeper And Midfielder Commit To Chesham

Not only does Chesham United boss Andy Leese reckon he has one of the best keepers in the Calor League Premier Division – but he believes Shane Gore just keeps getting better and better.

The former Wimbledon, Barnet and Luton custodian (pictured) last week signed a new deal at The Meadow, committing himself to Chesham United for another two years.

And Chesham boss Leese reckons capturing that signature is just as important as any other he will get this summer.

Leese said: "We are very fortunate to have Shane. He came in when we first came into the Southern Premier, and he has been instrumental in everything we have done in this league.

"He has consistently been among the best keepers in this league, and now our new goalkeeping coach, Rhys Toms, has taken him to another level.

"During the superb run in the league we had in the second half of last season, and during the FA Trophy run we had in the first half of it, our goalscorers got all the plaudits, but Shane would always make key saves at important times – and he keeps his concentration throughout.

"He has the respect of the whole dressing room, and when Danny Talbot left for Hemel Hempstead, Shane was a natural replacement as captain."

Joining Gore in penning a new deal at The Meadow last week was midfielder James Potton, who extended his own stay for a further year.
