New Bath City boss Gill delighted with home debut

Jerry Gill was proud of his Bath City side's display against Chelmsford City on Saturday in a goalless draw at Twerton Park in the FA Cup.

The Weston-super-Mare-born boss was taking charge of City at Twerton for the first time, receiving a warm reception before kick-off.

But he will lead his side back into battle against the Essex outfit tonight, when they journey east for the replay.

By kick-off, the Romans should know their potential first round foes, with the draw set for around 7pm. Yet they had a golden chance to seal their progress at the weekend, when Jack Compton struck the upright with a penalty.

"It was terrific; really enjoyable," Gill opened after his home dugout debut. "We had a good crowd in here, good atmosphere.

"I thought the players were outstanding. Their work ethic, their attitude, was really good.

"The way we moved the ball in the first 30 minutes was really pleasing to watch."
