No Pressure On Roberts To Join His Dad

Jeff Roberts, manager of Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division club Wootton Bassett Town, feels his side's style of football would suit son Jordan but says it is the youngster's decision as to where his future lies.

Roberts jnr has already signed for Southern League Swindon Supermarine this summer but his dad is hoping he will play a role in the Hellenic Premier for Bassett.

The midfielder signed for Supermarine on a dual-registration with Calne last season - where Jeff was manager - but became much more involved with the Southern League club from January onwards, the same month that Jeff quit the hotseat at Bremhill View.

Now that Roberts snr is at Bassett, he is keen to bring his son to the club and the youngster featured in the 2-0 friendly defeat to New College on Friday.

"We're still trying to talk him in," said Roberts.

"Dave (Webb, Supermarine manager) knows I'm chasing Jord but it's down to Jord at the end of the day. It's about where he's more comfortable and we try to play football here.

"I've watched a few Supermarine games and they seem to play a lot of long-ball, they don't really play from the back and we do here.

"That suits Jord but it's down to him. I haven't really pressurised him. I said to him, have a game (against New College) and see what you think."
