Pennock will bring his own staff to Barrow

New Barrow AFC boss Ady Pennock is keen to bring in his own backroom staff.

He played a supporting role to interim manager Neill Hornby on Saturday as AFC earned an excellent and much-needed 3-1 victory over Aldershot at Holker Street thanks to Adi Yussuf's hat-trick.

Pennock says he has started sounding out potential candidates for backroom staff roles, but he is "keeping that close to his chest" for the time being.

"I want to get it right. There is no point in rushing things that need to be done properly," said the former Forest Green and Gillingham boss.

Will it mean a place for the acting manager, Neill Hornby?

"Well I have known Neil for a long time," said Pennock. "He is a good man and has done well at other clubs. He knows his football.

"I couldn't believe he was here. When I went to speak to Andrew (Casson, the managing director), Neil popped his head round the corner and asked 'What are you doing here?'"
