Posh cup clash 'a nice distraction' for Tranmere

Micky Mellon says that a break from the league with an Emirates FA Cup tie against Peterborough United will be a nice distraction.

Rovers play at London Road on Saturday afternoon against EFL League One side Posh and the manager believes that in a one-off game, the 54-place difference in league standings won't necessarily be a factor.

"Whatever time we go down to play Peterborough, we know it's going to be a tough game. But it's certainly a game we're looking forward to and will give us a measurement of where we are as a team against a side with very good League One players.

"It's a one-off game and a nice distraction for us to have at this stage of the season to be involved in so we'll look forward to it.

"We'll go down there and give it everything we've got. We've watched Peterborough and identified where we think their threats are.

"The teams in the National League are strong and the gap between us and League clubs on a one-off game wouldn't be massive, because we're full-time."
