Ramblers Making Steady Progress

Keith Wilson, manager of Ryman League Division One North newcomers Burnham Ramblers, is making "steady progress" in terms of bolstering his squad.

The Leslie Field chief has admitted being "slightly envious" of big-spending rivals who have been busy recruiting new talent.

In contrast, finances are tight at Ramblers, despite their promotion to the Ryman League after winning last season's Essex Senior League title.

Nevertheless, Wilson (pictured) has been impressed with a number of trialists during pre-season and hopes to have news in the coming days about players signing on the dotted line.

"Things are improving steadily on that front," said the Burnham boss.

"We've had excellent numbers in training and ten or 11 trialists.

"I've already seen enough of two or three to know I'd like to keep hold of them, assuming they want to sign.

"And there are another three or four that I either haven't seen yet or that we'd like to keep looking at.

"After admitting being slightly envious of other clubs, things are now on the up."
