Terras can learn from Tubbs

Weymouth manager Mark Molesley is keen for the Terras' strikers to learn from experienced marksman Matt Tubbs during his one-month loan spell at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Tubbs, 33, joined on loan from Havant & Waterlooville this week and promptly scored twice on his debut during a 3-0 BigFreebet.com Challenge Cup first round win over Wimborne Town.

Molesley told Echosport that Weymouth had "done well" to capture Tubbs' signature.

He said: "We've done well, lucky enough, to get his services for a month and I think he'll be fantastic to have at the football club.

"He's certainly someone who's well-known to me. I've had the pleasure of playing with him and playing against him over the years. I know him well and we've got some very good forward players around him who can learn a lot of things off him.

"His experience and his know-how that he'll bring to the changing room will help bring on the younger players as well.

"There's some really talented forwards in our armoury now and competition for places is good. It's also about developing some of the younger players as well and I think Tubbsy can play a big role in that."

And Molesley was happy with how Tubbs "sniffed out" his debut brace on Tuesday night.

He said: "He showed what he's about, his hold-up play was good, he sniffed out two goals with comfortable finishes and I think it was a good work out for him.

"I think that's why he's here. He's here to get his match fitness and sharpness so I think he'll be happy, we're certainly happy that he's with us."
