Trio Impress Telford Chief

Trialists Robbie Booth, Martyn Jackson and Luke Bottomer all caught the eye of Conference North club AFC Telford United's boss Liam Watson during his side's 3-0 friendly win at Conwy.

The Bucks boss singled out the three players, who have joined the Bucks for pre-season, for praise after a dominant display against the Huws Grays Cymru Alliance side.

Former Southport utility man Booth, who had played as a wide midfielder in Telford's previous two pre-season games, was particularly impressive at right-back.

Jackson and Bottomer, meanwhile, drew praise for their solid displays before being replaced at different times during the second-half.

The trio were among six trialists involved on Saturday along with midfielder Nathan Rooney, former youth-team striker James O'Neill and ex-Hinckley forward Amos Kabeya.

The latter, like Bottomer, was making his first appearance in a Bucks' shirt. Watson (pictured) said: "One or two have really shone. I thought Robbie Booth was the best player on the pitch.

"Luke Bottomer was lively in the first half and Martyn Jackson was very composed, so it was all very positive."

Watson currently has 16 signed players and he is hoping to add a couple more to that number before the start of the Conference North season on August 17.
