Wallbridge Sees The 'Bigger Picture'

Andy Wallbridge, manager of Calor League Division One South & West club Didcot Town, is looking at the 'bigger picture' after reflecting on the past week, which included a tough outing against Conference North club Oxford City.

Wallbridge (pictured) said: "It's never enjoyable to lose any fixture, whether it's a friendly or not, so two defeats in a week I'm definitely not pleased with.

"However, to play an Oxford City team that will be competing two levels higher than us was always going to be tough, especially when we walk in at half-time to see they are playing whole new fresh 11 in the second period.

"That said, looking at the bigger picture, which is of course working towards August 17 at Shortwood, there were lots of positives from Saturday.

"The two keepers despite the scoreline did little wrong, six of the starting line up got through 90 minutes, Stuart Cattell completed 75 along with Jermaine Fereirra.

"New signing Adam Morris getting 60 minutes after an ankle problem was another plus. Equally as pleasing, after the game Joel Meade, Jermaine Fereirra, young Harry Halls and injured Nick Thorne all put pen to paper.

"It's also worth pointing out that Pablo Haysham also got through 35 minutes as part of his rehabilitation after a hamstring problem and (is), we hope, on the brink of re-signing too."
