Watson Happy With Attacking Options

Liam Watson, manager of Conference North club AFC Telford United, has hailed the variety of attacking options out wide.

The Bucks chief (pictured) was left underwhelmed by the first half of his team's display in their 3-1 Shropshire Senior Cup final victory over Market Drayton Town.

But the game did see a goal-scoring first appearance for right-winger Mike Phenix, one of 14 summer signings made by Watson ahead of the season.

Phenix, who had missed the Bucks' first pre-season game – against Shawbury United last Tuesday – with a minor foot injury, netted the equaliser before second-half goals from Alan Moogan and Andy Owens sealed victory.

Watson was pleased with Phenix's contribution, but believes he will be just one of several threats on the flanks this season.

He said: "Mike will get you a goal, he's very direct. You can see him linking up with Tony Gray. But we have got several options: his pace, Sean Clancy's trickery, Matty McGinn who can play wide, you've got Sean Cooke, and Robbie Booth who knows how to win matches and leagues because that is what he has always done.

"It is always nice to have options and I thought there were lots of positives.

"We have got Russell Benjamin to come back as well who makes us a little bit more solid.

"He has got a little tweak on a ligament in his foot."
