Williams Key For Trinity, Says Boss

Steve Housham has predicted a big season for Johnathan Williams following his display in Conference North club Gainsborough Trinity's 1-1 draw with Worksop.

The former Scunthorpe United trainee spent much of last season out on loan, but appears to be heading for a major role in the Trinity midfield this coming season.

The 21-year-old confirmed his worth to the Trinity coaching staff with an assured display in the centre of midfield and an assist after he set up the Trinity goal for Bradley Barraclough.

"Johnathan Williams is going to be a kingpin for us this season," said Housham (pictured).

"I told him to make sure he came back to us fit and well after the summer and he has done that.

"Technically, he is one of the best players in this league but he's got to be fit.

"I was delighted with his game against Worksop. You can see the quality of what he can deliver on the ball, it's just getting through to him to be more positive and look forward, because we will get to the stage when we need to turn teams and Johno has got that in his locker."
