Winsford Appoint Haslam

The board of North West Counties League Premier Division club Winsford United have announced the appointment of Eddy Haslam as first team manager.

The unexpected departure of Lloyd Morrison so close to the start of the season has meant the appointment has had to be dealt with very quickly. There were almost 20 applicants, an indication of the esteem of the club and the position.

Haslam, 55, is vastly experienced in Non-League football and although he is based in Formby his connections are mostly in the Manchester area.

As a player he appeared for New Mills, Glossop, Buckingham Town, Stoke Manderville and Buckingham Athletic.

Haslam has served as coach/manager at Formby, Atherton LR, Cheadle Town, New Mills, Woodley Sports and most recently Mossley AFC in season 2011/12.

He also has strong connections with Blackburn Rovers, Chester FC and AFC Fylde.

Blues chairman Mark Loveless said: "Eddy presented himself very well at his interview and we were impressed with his confidence and ambition. His first job will be to contact the players who have registered with Winsford this season and convince them that their future lies with the Blues.

"Although some of them have been left in a state of uncertainty as a result of the circumstances there is no doubt that we want them playing in a Blues shirt in the forthcoming season."
