Wrexham loanee Reid wants to sign off as top scorer

Alex Reid has paid tribute to the Wrexham defence, and adds he is desperate to sign off from his loan spell at the Racecourse as the leading goal scorer.

The 22-year-old striker's loan spell will come to an end after Wrexham's National League clash at Aldershot on Saturday, November 25, manager Dean Keates having extended his initial stint to the full 93 days allowed.

Reid has fired three times so far for the Dragons - including crucial efforts in 1-0 wins over Gateshead and Boreham Wood - but has not found the back of the net since late August.

He has since been overtaken by Chris Holroyd as the Dragons leading goalscorer, the former Macclesfield Town forward moving up to four following his brace in Saturdays disappointing 2-2 draw at home with Leyton Orient.

"The competitor in me, I am happy that Chris has scored the goals and has helped the team get the points, but the competitor in me will want to leave here as top goalscorer," said Reid.
