Yussuf thinks struggling Barrow can still make playoffs

Adi Yussuf insists the National League play-offs are still a realistic goal for Barrow AFC this season.

With more than a third of the campaign gone, the Bluebirds sit in the relegation zone, fourth-bottom, with just three wins and 16 points from 18 games.

But in a division where no-one has managed to break away at the top, and the gap between the play-offs and the drop-zone is covered by just 12 points, Yussuf is confident AFC should still be aiming high.

The 25-year-old Tanzanian striker netted a hat-trick – his first for the club – in Barrow's last game as they ended a 10-match winless run by thumping play-off contenders Aldershot 3-1 at Holker Street.

That win could prove the catalyst going forward for more good results, and Yussuf is definitely looking at the top end of the table rather than the bottom when it comes to judging where Barrow will finish come season's end.

"There's no reason why we shouldn't be in the play-offs come the end of the season," said Yussuf. "The league is so tight – we're fourth-from-bottom, but we're only 12 points from seventh.

"It's still possible, there's no reason why we shouldn't be looking at the play-offs.

"Ady (Pennock, the new AFC manager) has been there and done it before, so it's all possible."
