Former winners learn their fate as first FA Vase draws are made

The draw has been made for the First and Second Rounds of the Buildbase FA Vase and several eye-catching ties have been pulled out of the hat.

The Ebac Northern League will be hoping that one of their teams can continue their impressive run in the competition, with the league providing eight of the last nine winners and having finalists in the last nine years.

South Shields won last year's Vase with a 4-0 win over Cleethorpes Town in the final.

Four hundred and forty teams have been entered into the First Qualifying Round draw, with winners earning £550.

There is one all Northern League Division One tie, with Ryhope CW hosting Guisborough Town, the club that recently won a reprieve from relegation into Division Two.

Dunston UTS, winners in 2012, will travel to Barnoldswick Town.

Northwich Victoria make their bow in the competition with a home tie against Stockport Town.

Elsewhere Hallmark Security League First Division rivals Alsager Town and New Mills with face each other and Maine Road host Pontefract Collieries.

The Second Qualifying Round draw has also been made, with four-time winners Whitley Bay facing a tough trip to Northern League Division One rivals Billingham Synthonia.

Two other Northern League Division One sides meet, with newly-promoted Stockton Town entertaining Consett.

There is the potential for a Merseyside derby too.

If AFC Liverpool can beat Athersley Recreation in the First Qualifying Round, they will host City of Liverpool.
