Dunn Bolsters His Attack

Joey Dunn, manager of North West Counties League Premier Division club Runcorn Linnets, believes he has added "pace and presence" to his forward line with the double capture of Antony Hickey and Lee Thompson.

The duo have signed on at the Millbank Linnets Stadium ahead of the new campaign, having trained with their new teammates over the past two weeks.

Hickey's signing, in particular, represents a major coup. The forward, who worked with Dunn (pictured) at Warrington Town, arrives having helped Skelmersdale United secure promotion to the Evo-Stik League Premier Division last season.

"He can guarantee us 25 to 30 goals," said Dunn.

"He's a lad I know well. He can play wide, and scored plenty of goals there for Skem, but I intend to play him through the middle and give him the ammunition to do some real damage.

"He's got the pace to cause any team problems, and hopefully we can give him a side that will allow him to do just that."

Thompson, meanwhile, has moved from North West Counties League rivals Bootle, where he had topped the scoring charts in each of the last two seasons.

"I said at the end of last season that we needed some pace and presence in attack," Dunn added.

"I think with these two signings we have boxed that off."
