Morning Arrives at Ramsbottom

Most of last season's squad have re-signed for Evo-Stik League Division One North club Ramsbottom United.

The exceptions are forward Ryan Moore, after four spells at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium, and centre-forward Kristian Evans who was signed from Rochdale Town midway through last season.

Keiron Pickup, who spent much of last season helping Padiham to follow the Rams out of the North West Counties League as champions, has decided to stay at the Arbories, whilst defender Mark Ayres may well miss much of the campaign due to work commitments.

Joining the Rams are forward Adam Morning (pictured), who briefly had a spell down at the Riverside during the 2009/10 season. He was part of the victorious Skelmersdale United team that won the Evo-Stik League Division One North championship last season.

Two new defenders have joined, both at home in the left-back position which has proved troublesome of late. Owen Roberts has arrived from fellow Evo-Stik League side Bamber Bridge, while Matthew Russell has joined from NWCFL side Maine Road.

The Rams have also signed up a number of players from the Junior section.

Luke Bradbury, Adam Nuttall, Callum Smith and Matthew Warburton have all impressed during their time with the youngsters, and are now members of the first team squad, giving joint managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley a fine mix of youth and experience as the club embarks on its second season in the Evo-Stik League.
