One In, One Out at Rainworth

The squad at Evo-Stik League Division One South club Rainworth MW has continued to grow with the signing of experienced striker Jamie Clarke.

The former Boston United striker put pen to paper on Tuesday after training and joins Grant Ryan as the second striker to join the club this season.

Clarke has previously played for Evo-Stik League rivals Loughborough Dynamo, and is no stranger to manager Kevin Gee, having been a part of the Glapwell squad that reached the play-off finals a couple of years ago. He goes straight into the squad for today's home friendly against Ollerton.

On his latest recruit, manager Kevin Gee (pictured) confirmed: "Jamie is a striker that I know really well and more importantly, is a proven goal scorer at Evo-Stik level and with a hunger to do well. With the changes being made at Loughborough he probably felt that he would have limited opportunities, so we may be just the right tonic to kick start him off again, after last season was blighted with injury. I am confident our style of play will suit him, as he's very good in and around the 18 yard box with his movement, and I'm pleased he's decided to join us."

Meanwhile, fans' favourite Kieran Wells has decided to join Eastwood Town. The manager was understandably disappointed, adding: "When I brought Kieran into the club from Dunkirk last year I was impressed with his combative style and of course his goal scoring, which was especially highlighted in our final game against Gresley. I'm really upset to have lost his services, but having spoken to him, I can understand the reasons behind it, and I'm sure that if he continues to develop, he will do well at this level over a period of time."

He continued: "With the new acquisitions brought in to the existing group, the squad is nearly complete, with just a couple of areas that I still need to strengthen. (Today) will see home debuts for Mark Dudley, Danny Buttle and Jamie, plus Ricky Hanson who is now available, which should see us hopefully picking up the pace as we advance towards the new league season. After the weekend Damien Magee, Jared Holmes and Jordan Claxton will all be returning from holiday, so we should be at full strength for the difficult Gainsborough, Mansfield and Grantham games."
