Picton Commits To Frickley As New Duo Arrive

Evo-Stik League Premier Division club Frickley Athletic have revealed that Jake Picton has signed a contract until the end of the 2013/14 season.

The 22-year-old former Scunthorpe United player joined Frickley last season from Harrogate Town as a central defender, but has excelled since manager Karl Rose moved him into centre-midfield alongside Matty Bloor.

Rose was delighted that Picton (pictured) had put pen to paper, commenting: "Jake is another important player for us and, like Gav Allott, we have had to fight off a lot of interest in him so it's fantastic for us that he has committed his immediate future to Frickley. This reaffirms the club's determination to build on last season and move forwards on the pitch as well as off it."

Rose has also secured the signature of two new players on non-contract forms. 19-year-old striker Korey Dyer-Stewart has signed having spent last season at Boston United where he made eight first team appearances. The nephew of former Crystal Palace and Barnsley striker Bruce Dyer, Dyer-Stewart started out at Burton Albion's youth academy.

Also signing is 23-year-old central defender Gareth Griffiths from NCEL Premier Division side Parkgate. He has also played for Worksop Parramore.
