Pike Hands Deals To Duo

Alex Pike, manager of Conference South club Gosport Borough, has added two players to his squad, but released 13 hopefuls after a behind closed doors game last week.

Following the friendly with Hampshire League side Locks Heath at Fort Blockhouse, Pike invited back Jonny Brogden and Jack Barton but released the remainder.

"I cannot offer anyone reserve team football now that we have disbanded the team," said Pike (pictured).

"Some of the lads were good but I already have a very good set of players here and we need players who can challenge them for places immediately.

"Had we had a reserve side, I know some would have progressed and made it into the first team but it would be unfair of the club to keep anyone signed on that stood little chance of getting a game."

Brogden played last season at Conference South outfit Chelmsford City and Barton was on professional forms at Aldershot before being released by the north Hampshire club. Both will feature in the club's pre-season programme.
