Soham Recruit Six

Ryman League Division One North outfit Soham Town Rangers have begun preparing for the new season with six players arriving at the club.

Having finished last season with the Greens on loan from St Neots Town, defender Jordan Gent signs permanently from the Saints. The 21-year-old (pictured) progressed up through their youth system, helping the club with back to back promotions from the UCL to the Southern League Premier Division.

Also joining ahead of the new campaign are 19-year-old Huntingdon Town attacker Ben Sawyer, 21-year-old midfielder Ashley Walter from Sawston United, 24-year-old defenders Luke Little and Nick Wilderspin from Linton Granta and 25-year-old striker Liam Hart, who was previously connected to Ely City and Littleport Town.

A number of last season's squad have also re-signed, although some players have moved on.

As well as midfielder Neil Andrews, who announced his retirement at the end of last year, another three players, all of whom signed at the start of the 2012/13 season, have left the club.

Defensive midfielder Joe Asensi returns to Conference North Histon, where he had progressed through the Stutes' academy, whilst full-back Lewis McDonald also re-signs for his previously employees, neighbours Ely City. Sofian Bennour has returned to France and will this season play for Stade Beaucairois.
