Striker Makes Runcorn Town Return

North West Counties League Premier Division club Runcorn Town have re-signed striker Jason Carey from Formby.

The 27-year-old (pictured) enjoyed a record-breaking season with the Squirrels last term, scoring a total of 49 goals to help them to the North West Counties League Division One title.

But with Formby having been denied promotion after failing to meet the league's ground requirements, Carey has returned to Runcorn, where he spent four seasons between 2008 and 2012, scoring 89 goals.

Carey replaces last season's top scorer James McShane, who moved to Stockport Sports last month.

Town boss, Simon Burton, said: "Jason is in great shape. I don't think I've ever seen him look so sharp.

"He enjoyed his time at Formby and obviously did well there.

"He had interest from other clubs, naturally, but we had a good chat and I think he always wanted to come back here deep down.

"I'm delighted with what I've managed to get in so far, and I think we have improved the team in the close-season. I can't wait to get started now."
