Tiverton Release Keeper Wright

Calor League Division One South & West club Tiverton Town have released goalkeeper Chris Wright.

The keeper joined Tiverton from Witheridge in the summer of 2010 and has since gone on to establish himself as one of the finest goalkeepers in the division.

Well known on the Devon Non-League scene, he first came to the attention of Tiverton with a fine performance in a pre-season friendly whilst playing for Cullompton Rangers, but it wasn't until Steve Book's retirement two years later that he was brought to Ladysmead.

Unfortunately he suffered a freak injury in only his third game for the club, suffering a broken arm in a game at Banbury United, and he was ruled out for much of the remainder of the season, although he did return to help Tivvy to the final of the Devon Cup.

Wright (pictured) later returned to the starting line-up on a more permanent basis and has since firmly nailed the number one shirt. His return to the team coincided with the club rising up the league table and Tivvy conceded only one goal more than champions Bideford in the 2011/12 season, with Wright the first Tiverton goalkeeper since 2001 to not concede more than a goal per game on average throughout the league season.

"The club would like to thank him for all his hard work and dedication during his time at Ladysmead and wishes him good luck for the future," read a club statement.
