Tudors Bring In Keeper Walker

Calor League Premier Division club Hemel Hempstead Town have announced that Laurie Walker has joined them from Leamington.

Bedford born, Walker (pictured) began his footballing career with MK Dons before moving to Millwall and then Cambridge United. He then joined Morecambe in 2010, making his debut against Macclesfield Town in the Football League Trophy. After his release from Morecambe at the end of the season, he signed for Kettering Town in 2011 and became a firm favourite with the fans for his shot stopping exploits.

After a tough period with Kettering Town, Walker signed for Brackley Town in October 2012 before signing dual-registration forms with Leamington a month later, where he saw out the remainder of the season as Leamington's main keeper, helping them to win the Southern League Premier Division title.

Walker replaces Sam Beagle, who has left football to join Formula 2 racing. A club spokesman said: "Sam was well thought of by all Hemel fans, and his professionalism, work rate and enthusiam set an excellent example to all footballers, young and old. We wish him all the very best in his new venture and hope that he keeps in touch with the club and players."

Meanwhile, Gareth Chendlik has also joined the Tudors.

Chendlik was part of the youth section, playing for the Under-18s before going to university to study business, and has impressed in the pre-season friendlies.

Manager Dean Brennan said of Chendlik: "He is a natural goalscorer and is now fully focussed on his football career after university. He has all the attributes to be a high class striker and this is why the club have invested in his future."
