Wrens Bring In French

Evo-Stik League Division One South club Rainworth MW have brought more firepower into their squad with the signing of former Burton Albion starlet, 19-year-old front man Joe French.

French (pictured) was at Boston United last year under Jason Lee, and he put pen to paper after Thursday's training session, and went straight into the squad for Saturday's fixture against Gainsborough Trinity.

Manager Kevin Gee commented: "Although we have brought a lot of experience into the squad this year, we still need to develop young talent. Joe is a perfect acquisition at 19, like most young professionals, he has suffered setbacks, but he has still retained his hunger for the game, which is really important."

He continued: "Although he had offers from bigger clubs, he made his decision on getting match minutes, so it is a great opportunity for both of us. He was impressed with the way we do things in training and can't wait to get started.

"He's quick, got a good first touch and is a natural goal scorer. With all the raw ingredients there, it is up to us now to nurture the talent and hopefully help Joe re-kindle his obvious talent."
