NATIONWIDE CONFERENCE NATIONAL ROUND-UP
15/04/2006
Accrington Stanley reclaimed their place in the Football League after a 44-year absence after earning a 1-0 victory at Kingfield against Woking that assured the Nationwide Conference National championship on Easter Saturday.

Leading scorer Paul Mullin (pictured) hit the only goal after good work by Mark Boyd 8 minutes before half time.

Stanley had a let-off midway through the second half when Justin Richards' penalty was saved by Rob Elliot only for the referee to order a retake.

Charlton loanee Elliot was equal to Richards' second effort and the ball somehow stayed out in a huge goalmouth scramble.

Stuart Fleetwood's 64th minute strike ended Altrincham's challenge at Moss Lane and virtually assured Hereford united a spot in the play-offs.

Hereford dominated from the outset and Rob Purdie and Andy Ferrell both came close to an opener early on.

Home keeper Stuart Coburn then denied Daniel Carey-Bertram from range, before the striker set up Fleetwood, who fired in his fifth of the season.

Altrincham's best chance came through Colin Little, but his effort went wide.

Substitute Guy Madjo boosted Forest Green Rovers’ survival hopes with a stoppage-time equaliser at Grays Athletic.

The striker drilled home from twelve yards in the 5th minute of time added on.

Dennis Oli headed the hosts in front in the 13th minute, but Forest Green were level at the break, thanks to Michael Brough's 38th minute penalty.

Grays deservedly regained the lead on 72 minutes when Glenn Poole turned in Aaron McLean's cross but Madjo's equaliser was reward for the visitors' hard work.

Morecambe gave their play-off hopes a major boost with a comfortable win away to lowly Tamworth.

Morecambe took the lead with only a minute gone, Wayne Curtis latching on to a cross from Michael Twiss.

It was soon 2-0 as Bowles was unable to keep out Garry Thompson's 25-yard effort in the 12th minute.

Danny Carlton added a third by converting a Michael Howard cross with 13 minutes remaining, as Tamworth's relegation worries deepened.

Exeter City kept their slim play-off hopes alive as they came from behind to comfortably beat Dagenham & Redbridge.

The Daggers took the lead in the 35th minute when Tim Cole headed in Sam Saunders' corner.

City were level seconds before the break when Billy Jones scored from the spot after Anwar Uddin fouled Dean Moxey.

Lee Phillips tapped home Jones' cross after 48 minutes and Matt Gill fired into the bottom corner of the net with a minute left to clinch the points.

Scarborough climbed off the bottom of the table with an emphatic win against Burton Albion at the McCain Stadium.

Player-boss Neil Redfearn put them ahead from the spot on 35 minutes after Andy Corbett was sent-off for stopping a Tony Hackworth header with his hands.

Burton twice went close after half time before Boro doubled their lead with a brilliant 20-yard Hackworth shot 18 minutes from time.

The Seasiders made sure of a first home win since November when substitute Michael Coulson tucked away Hackworth's cross from close range with 9 minutes remaining.

Michael Bostwick struck his first goal for Crawley Town to help them to a victory against Aldershot Town that virtually ends any chance of them being dragged into a relegation battle.

They can still mathematically be caught by Scarborough but their superior goal difference means they should be safe.

Omari Coleman opened the scoring in the 28th minute, latching on to Lee Blackburn's ball from the right.

Crawley gave themselves breathing space on 55 minutes when Bostwick drilled home Danny Ekoku's cross.

Southport gave themselves a massive boost in their quest to stay in the Conference National with a 1-0 win against mid-table Gravesend & Northfleet at Haig Avenue.

Steve Daly scored the only goal of the game in the 15th minute to give `Port a lifeline in their battle against relegation.
