THOMAS MAKES YATE MOVE 23/06/2009
Scott Thomas has quit Taunton Town to join new Zamaretto League Division One South & West rivals Yate Town.
Former Bristol Rovers youngster Thomas (pictured), who was sent-off four times last season, informed Taunton's new manager Paul West on Monday of his decision to move.
"Scott phoned me to say he was leaving. I appreciated the call because he could have left without telling me," said West. "I'm disappointed to be losing him but wish him all the best - he's a good lad."
Thomas is believed to be the only player from last season's squad to have left Taunton and West added: "Obviously I want most of last season's players to stay with us.
"I will be bringing in one or two players. It is already known that I'm interested in both Andy Butler and Simon Ingram who play for Wellington.
"I'm hoping to get them both but you're never quite sure in this game. There are local players out there who are good enough to play for Taunton with the right direction and coaching. "Local players will be given a chance if they're good enough."
