WHITBY BATTLE BACK TO FOIL LEADERS 13/10/2009
In the Monday night`s only league game, Ashton United let a two-goal lead slip to draw 2-2 with Whitby Town at Hurst Cross, but remain at the top of the UniBond Premier Division table - for 24 hours at least.
The breakthrough came after 57 minutes when a visiting defender handled the ball in the area, resulting in a penalty converted by Iain Howard.
With 15 minutes remaining Leon Henry scored with his first touch having come on as a second half substitute to increase Ashton`s lead.
However, it was not enough as Whitby battled back immediately through Danny Brunskill (pictured) and then equalised 9 minutes from time with Leon Scott the scorer.
