The all-Premier Division ties in the 'Bluefin' - Insurance Brokers Challenge Cup on Saturday, saw Ascot United thumped 5-1 by Reading Town.

Graham Lewis and Aaron Parfitt with two-a-piece and Dave Mills put the Town into the next round, despite Sam McIntyre’s late consolation.

Shrivenham won through comfortably over Old Woodstock Town. Glenn Armstrong with two, Chris Flanagan and Blaine Fitzgerald were Shrivvy’s sharp shooters with Jon Da Silva and Mike Benson replying for Woodstock.

Kidlington lost out narrowly to a John Steadman effort for Abingdon Town. Kidlington thought they had equalised in the final minute directly from a corner but the referee spotted an infringement to deny extra-time.

In the ties matching Premier sides with Division One sides, Finchampstead had a great result over Premier side Highworth Town. The Worthians went into half time 1-0 up thanks to Steve Yeardley, but second half efforts from Ben Knight and Dean Thomas with two caused the upset of the day.

Marlow United needed extra-time to win their tie over Newbury. Tim Degelas had given Marlow the early initiative but Ben Filmore equalised with a second half penalty to take the game into overtime. Goals from Gary Wiltshire and Lee Ovens settled it for Marlow.

Prestwood were totally outplayed by Oxford City Nomads, shipping ten goals. Up for the turkey shoot were Joe Meade, Jermaine Ferreira (pictured), Mike Lyon, Corey Forbes with two, Mark Jones with two, Ian Roper and Leo Simoes.

Division One East leaders Wokingham & Emmbrook were comfortable winners over Hook Norton, scoring three times without reply.

On target for the Satumas were Nick Bateman and Sam Duffelen, with an own goal completing the scoresheet.

Pegasus Juniors thrashed Cricklade Town 5-0 with goals from Anthony Robbins and a Cory Hyde four-timer.

High-flying Purton came down to earth, losing to Fairford Town, thanks to first half strikes from Jacques Tertois and Lee Clark.

Shortwood United ran out 4-1 winners over Trowbridge Town. Tarrick Yachou had given the Wiltshire outfit an early lead before the cavalry in the shape of James Singh, Alex Allard, Andy Hoskins and Matt Bennett, arrived to save the day for the Wood.

In the all Division One ties Chalfont Wasps were thrashed 5-1 at home by Headington Amateurs.
On target for the A`s were Luke Cuff, Aftab Hafiz, Jay Hill and Neil Lockhart with a brace. Fred Tripp scored a second half consolation for the Wasps.

Cheltenham Saracens won a close encounter with Penn & Tylers Green thanks to a late Jamie Hammond effort.

Eton Wick slammed five past Kintbury Rangers without reply, courtesy of an Alex Smith hat trick, Andy Murdoch and Matt Bell.

Letcombe needed extra-time to secure their passage to the next round over Tytherington Rocks. Jamie MacDonagh with two and Jo Kent were Letcombe’s heroes, whilst James Hicks was on the scoresheet for the Rocks.

Woodley Town cruised past Didcot Town Reserves, despite Paul Powell’s early strike. Town’s saviours were Jim Nightingale, Jamie Fairchild and Tom Williams.

Holyport overran Easington Sports by 4-1, thanks to an Arron Lennon pair and one from Dan Rapley with an own goal making the total. Matt Keenan snatched Sports’ late consolation.

Cup competitions meant a league programme reduced to just three fixtures. In the Premier, high-flyers, Almondsbury Town took on Ardley United, who have strung together a good winning sequence and after an exciting match, the Almonds eventually won 5-3.

On target for the home side were Marcus Mapstone, Ross Stearn with two, Sahr Kabba and Brad Andrews with Leon Gordon, Troy Bryan and Adam Richmond replying for Ardley.

Malmesbury Victoria faced lowly Carterton and had to settle for a draw. Andy Varnam gave the Vics a first half lead but Gary Smales equalised in the second period to earn the draw.

The in-form Wantage Town hosted new boys Binfield and were soon behind to a Callum Whitty strike. Rich Guy equalized in the second half to rescue a point for the Alfredians.

In Division One West, leaders Slimbridge took on the improving Lydney Town but were too hot to handle, thanks to strikes from Marvin Roberts with two, Rob Hine and Will Freeman.

The unpredictable Winterbourne United hosted lowly Clanfield and were beaten 2-1, despite going into an early lead through Sam Vile. Anthony Frendo and Adam Little were Clanfield’s heroes.

Wootton Bassett Town, catching up on their league fixtures, were at home to North Leigh Reserves and duly won by 4-2. Goals from Jon Holloway, Chris Oram and Sean Bailey had given Bassett a comfortable half time lead before Pete Hutter’s second half brace gave the Oxfordshire outfit some hope but Alex Green’s strike late on confirmed the result for Bassett.

In Division One East, South Kilburn increased their three game winning sequence by beating Chinnor 2-0 and high-flyers Thame United took on the very strong Milton United and were edged out by the odd goal in three.

Aaron Rogers had given Thame an early lead but a second half brace by Ryan Williams took the points to Milton.
