HILLIANS PUT THE SKIDS UNDER REBELS 27/01/2010
An off-target back-pass by Glen Woodburn put the skids under second-placed Worthing in the Ryman League Division One South on Tuesday night.
It set visiting Burgess Hill Town on their way to a 4-1 victory which completed a `double` over their Sussex rivals.
Woodburn's own goal opened the scoring a minute before half time and it was all gloom for the Rebels after that.
Lloyd Skinner doubled the lead after 64 minutes and in the next 11 minutes Hillians scored twice more, through Will Berry and Matt Percival, while between those two goals Worthing had defender Stuart Axten sent-off.
The hosts did have the last word, however, with a late consolation strike from Ben Johnson.
There was a home defeat, too, for fourth-placed Croydon Athletic at the hands of nearby Whyteleafe.
Leon McDowall and Kieron McCann put the visitors 2-0 up in 18 minutes and that was that.
Substitute James Rose (pictured) scored with 8 minutes left to earn Metropolitan Police a 2-1 home victory over Sittingbourne.
Matt Bourne put the Kent side ahead, with Paul Honey replying before half time.
The Police were twice frustrated by the goalposts before Rose stepped in.
