CARLSBERG SOUTH WEST PENINSULA LEAGUE ROUND-UP 31/01/2010
In the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League Premier Division on Saturday, Buckland Athletic retained top spot after a 3-0 home win over visiting Wadebridge Town which keeps them two points clear of Bodmin Town who had a comfortable 5-0 away win at lowly Liskeard Athletic.
Torpoint Athletic, who started the day in third, were the only one of the top five to drop points as they were held to a 3-3 draw away at near-neighbours Saltash United.
St Blazey moved into third with a 2-1 away win at Elburton Villa and also climbing above Torpoint and into fourth were Tavistock, who also had a 2-1 away win, in their case at Ivybridge Town.
Both of the two most Westerley clubs had wins and climbed a place as Penzance moved into the top six after a 3-0 home win over Cullompton Rangers at Penlee Park and Falmouth Town are now seventh after they won 2-0 away at Launceston.
It was generally a good day for sides playing away in this division and following that theme were both Plymouth Parkway who won 5-1 away at Bovey Tracey to climb to ninth and also Witheridge who are now tenth after a 4-0 win away at Dartmouth.
It was almost a full programme of fixtures this week but one game, Holsworthy versus Clyst Rovers, was called off at Upcott Field.
