SHERINGHAM INTERESTS GILLS 05/02/2010
Blue Square South club Bishop`s Stortford`s top scorer Charlie Sheringham is interesting Coca-Cola League One side Gillingham.
Gills boss Mark Stimson has confirmed he is considering offering a trial to the ex-Crystal Palace son of Teddy.
The 21-year-old has been catching the eye in since being released by Palace two years ago.
He has been scoring regularly for Stortford this season after previously impressing at Welling United, who recently received a fee of £6,500 after taking their Hertfordshire league rivals to an FA Tribunal.
Now Sheringham could now be offered the chance to prove he can cut it at League One level with Gillingham.
"I've seen Charlie play a lot and he is a good player at that level," Stimson told Kent Online.
"There was a possibility he was going to come here and do some training, but with the games being postponed and the facilities not being available, it didn't materialise.
"Whether that will happen in the next couple of months, who knows?
"Whether he will suit this division yet I'm not sure, but we are interested in him."
