HONOUR LETS CHANDLER GO
26/09/2003
UniBond League First Division club Bishop Auckland have released striker Ian Chandler ahead of Saturday's home game with Colwyn Bay.

Chandler was brought to the club during the summer by manager Brian Honour, but the former Whitley Bay striker, who scored the winner in the FA Vase Final in 2002, has scored just three times for Bishops.

Honour (pictured) is now hoping that Bishops' run of six games without a win ends against the Welshmen, after their latest game at Workington ended in a 4-2 defeat.

"Every time one of our defenders makes a mistake, we seem to be punished," said Honour. "We don't seem to be getting the rub of the green.

"We're good going forward, but we tend to give away daft free kicks and the opposition scores.

"It's a test now of the players' character, but I still firmly believe that we can get up there."

Bishops beat Colwyn Bay 3-2 on the opening day of the season, but they haven't won a game since they won the 'Team of the Month' award for August.
