CLOUGH GETS TWIGG 26/09/2003
Nationwide Conference club Burton Albion have snapped up teenage striker Gary Twigg on a month's loan from First Division neighbours Derby County.
Twigg (pictured) originally started out with Celtic Boys but moved to Derby, at the same time coverting from attacking left back to striker.
He has turned in two consistent seasons and proved to be a regular scorer for the reserves and earned his place in the full squad. He was named as a substitute at Sunderland in the last game of the 2001/2002 season.
He won the Young Player of the Year Award in the 2000/01 season and signed a three-year professional contract in March 2002, and looks to have a very good future ahead of him.
However, after a promising start to last season the 19-year-old striker had to undergo surgery on a hernia problem and has been unable to force his way back into the Rams' first-team following his recovery, although he has been a regular in the reserves.
Twigg is expected to be named in Nigel Clough's squad for the tough test at Aldershot Town on Saturday.
