MAGPIES GIVE BROOKS A HELPING HAND 13/12/2003
Oxford United's talented striker Jamie Brooks has joined Ryman League Premier Division club Maidenhead United on a one month loan deal.
Brooks (pictured) was reportedly on the verge of moving to Arsenal in the summer of 2002 but was then struck down by a near fatal virus that put him in hospital on life support for several weeks.
Since then he has been battling his way back to fitness and is on the verge of an
emotional first-team return but needs more match practice. The Magpies have five games in that period.
Brooks, who has a 50 per cent goal strike record at Oxford United, will find a few familiar faces as he joins former team-mates Phil Gray, Kelvin McIntosh, Phil Wilson and manager John Dreyer at York Road.
