LINNETS LOSE BROWN 03/04/2004
Dr Martens League Eastern Division promotion-chasers King's Lynn look set to lose the services of Boston United loan signing Jermaine Brown after the Pilgrims granted the striker compassionate leave to be with his seriously ill father.
The former Arsenal and Colchester United player was scheduled to make his Linnets debut in last weekend's 2-2 draw at Folkestone Invicta, but he pulled out at the eleventh hour after his father was taken to hospital with a suspected heart attack.
"Jermaine's dad has suffered some sort of relapse this week and Boston have decided it is in the player's interests to be with his family at this time," said joint boss Kevin Boon.
"Clearly our thoughts are with Jermaine and his family. With so few games remaining this season it wouldn't be fair to him or us if he were available for only a handful of games."
With the Dr Martens transfer deadline having come and gone, Boon believes the re-emergence of Robbie Harris and Chris Bacon could provide a timely boost for the club in the attacking department.
"Jermaine would have given us some more firepower," he said. "But Chris and Robbie have outstanding for the reserves. They have both been left out in recent weeks and the commitment, effort and desire they showed was tremendous. Hopefully from the club's point of view they are peaking at the right time."
