WHERE`S BROWN? 07/04/2004
Dr Martens League Eastern Division promotion-hopefuls King's Lynn and Third Division Boston United have launched a manhunt to find striker Jermaine Brown.
The ex-Arsenal trainee went AWOL after agreeing to join Lynn on-loan promotion two weeks ago.
London-based Brown, 21, was originally granted compassionate leave to miss the trip to Folkestone Invicta a week last Saturday, but hasn't been seen since.
Pilgrims secretary John Blackwell said the Walks-based outfit were now struggling to track him down.
"Jermaine has gone missing and King's Lynn are trying to find out where he is," confirmed Blackwell.
"He didn't turn up for the 2-0 defeat by Salisbury City on Saturday and now they are asking questions.
"I have tried to contact him myself, but he hasn't returned any of my calls.
"Everyone just wants to get to the bottom of what is going on."
Pilgrims boss Steve Evans gave Brown his blessing to join the club at the end of last month, after he failed to make an impact in three first team starts for Boston.
"He lacked a little bit of a physical presence for us, but he is still at a young age," offered Evans.
"I thought he could become a cult hero with the Lynn fans and help them win the league.
"They are a big club in non-League terms and there is no reason why they can't achieve everything Boston United have in the next two to three years."
Brown (pictured) had been a free agent when he signed to York Street until the end of the season.
Rumours suggested Brown had a deal lined-up with First Division Crystal Palace for next season, but the Eagles have denied the link.
"Jermaine hasn't signed anything for us and we are not aware of an impending agreement," said a Selhurst Park spokesman.
"He did play a few reserve games for us earlier this season, but that is the last we heard of him."
