HARROGATE SNAP UP DUXBURY 16/09/2004
Harrogate Town announce the signing of ex-Bradford City, Huddersfield Town and Oldham Athletic midfield player Lee Duxbury from Bury.
The 34-year-old Keighley-born player has a wealth of Football League experience, making 337 appearances for Bradford City, 316 for Oldham Athletic and 36 for Huddersfield Town.
He has transferred for £750,000 during his career, moving from Bradford City to Huddersfield Town (£250,000), Huddersfield Town to Bradford City (£150,000) and Bradford City to Oldham Athletic (£350,000).
He moved to Bury from Oldham Athletic last summer, and made 36 appearances for the Shakers.
The experienced midfielder had his contract with the Shakers terminated by mutual consent earlier this week, allowing their manager Graham Barrow to bring in new players.
Barrow commented: "He has been a good professional and has had a great career.
"He has never let himself down on a day-to-day basis and always gave his all on the park.
"Maybe he has played his final League game because no-one ever knows when that day is going to come along.
"He goes with our good wishes because he's been a great lad."
The signing of Duxbury (pictured)with his experience and ability again demonstrates Harrogate's determination to continue its rise through the non-League Pyramid.
Harrogate have also secured the services of Hull City striker Clayton Donaldson in a one-month loan deal.
Donaldson had a short spell on loan at Wetherby Road during the 2002/03 season and impressed with five goals. It is hoped he will be named in the squad for Saturday's visit to Lancaster City.
Meanwhile, a new offer has been made to Coca-Cola League Two side Shrewsbury Town for striker Jody Banim.
Banim was a prolific scorer in the UniBond League before his £20,000 move to the Shrews from Radcliffe Borough last season.
