REDS CHAIRMAN OFFERS TO RESIGN 11/01/2002
Redditch United chairman Rod Laight has offered to resign as chairman of the Dr Martens League Western Division club after a ten-year reign at the helm.
"I can confirm I have offered my resignation but cannot state the date yet because of legal reasons."
Commercial director Pat Cremin confirmed Laight had stepped down and said manager Rod Brown's position at the club would not be affected.
Meanwhile, Brown continues to reshape his squad and has released Scott Colcombe, Ian Mitchell and goalkeeper Martyn Lakin.
Lakin and midfielder Mitchell have joined Midland Alliance neighbours Studley BKL and Colcombe looks set to choose between Bromsgrove Rovers, Stourbridge, Willenhall Town and Sutton Coldfield Town.
The Reds manager has lined up Solihull Borough left-sided player Richard Beale as a replacement for Colcombe, although thr player is also interesting Western Division rivals Gresley Rovers.
