BLUEBIRDS LOOK AT WAITE 13/01/2005
Nationwide North club Barrow are set to give a Thailand international keeper the chance to impress.
Jamie Waite, 19, was due to make his debut at Holker Street in the Lancs Marsden Trophy against Moore & Co Solicitors North West Counties League leaders Fleetwood Town, but the game fell foul of the weather.
Barrow manager Lee Turnbull revealed Waite had trained with the squad up to five times.
Waite first played for the Thai international side aged just 15. At the time it made him the second youngest player ever to appear in a full international.
Following a string of good performances for the Thai national team, Waite signed a three-year scholarship with home-town club Rotherham United in the summer of 2003. But he failed to live up to the promise and left the club a year later.
Earlier this season he had a spell with Barrow’s league rivals Kettering Town.
Turnbull (pictured) said: “He has been with a lot of clubs and is highly thought of.
“He has trained with us about five times and this is an opportunity for us to have a look at him."
