NEW MAN AT THE HELM FOR BEAVERS 09/09/2005
David Cole, of MEM Retail Marketing Services, is the new chairman of Ryman League Premier Division club Hampton & Richmond Borough.
Cole, whose company MEM have been ground sponsors since the beginning of the 2004/05 season, agreed to take over the vacant position on Tuesday evening
Cole is a former director of the Mirror Group and took over MEM in 2000. The Company, based in Sunbury-on-Thames, employ some 1,500 people.
MEM are involved in in-store promotions and merchandising, delivering full-cycle consumer brand management solutions to distribution agencies, retail chains and brand owners. Included in their client list are Tesco as well as other large corporate organisations.
Cole was introduced to the club by managing director Bob Hayes and sees his role as enhancing public awareness of the club and driving up the gate. "Another 50 to 100 regular supporters would make all the difference to the club," he said.
Cole is also a former racing driver and once headed a team of three cars racing under the Mirror Group banner and still maintains an interest in Motor Racing through his two sons.
